The Tiger That Isn’t: Seeing Through a World of Numbers by Michael Blastland and Andrew Dilnot

A gentle but interesting read about interpreting statistics and metrics like those that are published in newspapers. This book uses lots of real-life examples to demonstrate how misleading some of these numbers can be. It covers a lot of recent newspaper headlines including the many changes to the values behind the school league tables.
